Fireworks are a major problem across Keighley for many local people. That's why Robbie Moore MP has teamed up with local councillor Julie Glentworth to bring a petition to Parliament - advocating for a fresh look into the restriction of the sale and use of Fireworks not just in Keighley but across the country.

Councillor Julie launched the petition in Keighley saying:

I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of the fireworks constantly going off in Keighley. And you can help me stop them.

It feels like every night we are kept up by people illegally letting off fireworks in the middle of the night.

These fireworks are causing distress to people right across town, causing sleepless nights, frightening pets. Not to mention the increase in related mental health issues.

We need to act, so I've teamed up with our MP, Robbie Moore, to send a petition to Parliament to urge our politicians to reconsider the sale and use of fireworks. We need to see better enforcement by the police, toughening up of the restrictions on sale, and possibly a ban on private firework usage entirely.

So please take 30 seconds of your time, and sign the petition to help me stop the fireworks.

Robbie Moore also responded to the development saying:

I am always happy to help local people on the issues that matter to them, and I'm pleased to be able to support Julie in her work at a local level tackling these nuisance fireworks.

Quite simply the way they are currently being used in Keighley is illegal, but it is clear is isn't enough to stop people from severely disrupting their neighbours.

I hope with the support of local people, and Julie, we can send a strong message that more needs to be done to tackle those who continue to break the law.
