My Plan for Ilkley

My Plan for Ilkley

The Keighley and Ilkley Constituency covers a large geographical area with many varying challenges and opportunities. That is why I have set out my six individual priorities for both Ilkley, and for Keighley.

This page identifies my six local priorities for Ilkley, which includes Addingham and Ben Rhydding.

Demand action to tackle problem parking in Ilkley

We need a solution to problem parking that works for residents and business alike.  I’ve put together a simple three step solution to problem parking - the 3 R's.

Police

Getting more Police on the beat with extra resources to tackle crime

Working together with the police and the community we can cut crime. I’ll make sure we get a fair share of extra resources from the 20,000 more officers being recruited; and we’ll give them the tools they need to fight crime.

Backing town centre shops

We can be rightly proud of our town centre, but we need the right shops and attractions to support local businesses and keep our high street vibrant. That’s why I’ll work with the community to promote a ‘shop local’ campaign, supporting jobs and giving independent retailers a much-needed boost.

Investing in our schools to create more local places

Young people deserve the best start in life, but parents have told me there aren’t enough places at local schools for children in Ilkley. I’ll make sure that we get the funding we need to create more quality school places for both primary and secondary schools in Ilkley.

More GP appointments and investment for the Coronation Hospital

We need access to doctors when it matters most, that’s why I’ll campaign for better access to GP services, providing more appointments at local surgeries and better out of hours facilities.

Saying no to reckless over-development to protect our green spaces

There is a clear need for more homes in the district, but the demand is not in Ilkley.
