Local MP Robbie Moore has praised the “extraordinary” work of Keighley Community Transport, a service that has been a lifeline for vulnerable people in the town for 40 years.
Founded in 1984, Keighley Community Transport operates a fleet of minibuses, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles, to support local charities, day centres, educational groups, and community organisations.
The service also plays a crucial role in helping elderly and disabled residents maintain their independence by providing transport for shopping trips, medical appointments, and social activities.
Keighley Community Transport is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who give up their time to help others.
In addition to regular group transport, they also operate a car service for individuals with specific needs, such as patient transfers and transport for those with learning difficulties.
With increasing demand for their services, Keighley Community Transport is always looking for new volunteers.
Anyone with a valid D1 driving licence who can spare a few hours a week is encouraged to get involved.

"Keighley Community Transport is an absolutely fantastic organisation that makes an enormous difference to so many lives in the Keighley area.
Whether it’s helping elderly residents stay independent, supporting community groups, or ensuring those with additional needs can get out and about, the work they do is truly outstanding — and it was fantastic to see this first-hand.
We must do everything we can to support them and I urge anyone who can spare a bit of time to get involved—you will be making a huge impact on people’s lives. A huge thanks to Mary and Mike for the warm welcome”

"We are extremely grateful to Robbie for visiting and for supporting the vital service we provide to the community in Keighley and surrounding areas. We are very keen to see the service maintained and future-proofed - any community group who feels that we can provide a cost-effective transport solution for them, or anybody who wants to enquire about the patient transfer car service or anybody who would like to join our group of dedicated volunteers (even if they are only able to provide a few hours a week) should contact us via the link above or drop into see us at our garage on Golbourne Street in Keighley.
For those wishing to provide their services as a volunteer, full training will be given. Whether wishing to make an enquiry about using the service (car for individuals or buses for groups) you are assured of a very warm welcome!"
