People with no coronavirus symptoms can now have a lateral flow test in Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre.
Anyone who lives or works within the Bradford District can have one of the tests. There is no need to book an appointment, you can simply turn up and once tested, results only take 30 minutes to be received.
The testing is taking place in an empty shop between Costa and JD Sports, near Burger King in the Airedale Shopping Centre. The facility is open from 9am to 4:30pm Monday to Saturday and from 11:15am to 3pm on a Sunday.
The testing facility is being operated by Bradford Council’s COVID Response Hub, in partnership with the Department for Health and Social Care.
These tests are only available if you do not have any symptoms of COVID-19. If you have symptoms you should continue to book a test via www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by phoning 119.
Lateral flow tests are fast turnaround tests that can process COVID-19 samples on site without laboratory equipment. Lateral flow tests enable us to identify infectious people who are asymptomatic (not displaying symptoms) and make sure they can isolate and prevent spreading the virus further.
At Christmas – the testing facility will be closed on 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 December and 1 January.
It is important to note that Lateral Flow Tests are not as accurate as the PCR tests carried out at the Mobile Testing Units. If you get a positive result from a Lateral Flow Test you must then have a PCR test to confirm the results. You and anyone you live with will have to isolate immediately.
If you get a negative result from a Lateral Flow Test you must still stick to the guidelines and continue to wash your hands regularly, wear a face covering and stay at least 2m apart.
It is also advised that you get a Lateral Flow Test regularly – once a week to help stop the virus from spreading further.
