Local MP Robbie Moore has joined volunteers from Litter Free Ilkley to mark the group’s second anniversary, celebrating two years of work to keep Ilkley and the surrounding moorlands clean and tidy.
Since the group was founded in 2022, volunteers have cleared an estimated 1,000 bags of litter every year, helping preserve Ilkley’s green spaces and improving the town’s natural environment for residents and visitors alike.
Despite heavy rain, the group’s Halloween-themed anniversary litter pick went ahead over the weekend, collecting 28 bags of litter.
The event also featured live music from Stephandhersax and delicious food prepared by Rika Imada from One Tivoli Place Guesthouse.
The celebrations drew volunteers from across the district, including litter-picking groups from Burley, Baildon, Guiseley and Keighley, showing how community action can inspire others to get involved.
The group, led by Vivienne Boey, continues to meet on the last Sunday of each month at 11am near the Bandstand on The Grove, and welcomes new volunteers of all ages.
