Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has visited All Saints’ Primary School in Ilkley for a question-and-answer session with Year 6 pupils.
The local MP took a wide range of questions from the pupils, including what life is like as an MP, how local and national democracy works, and his local priorities for Keighley, Ilkley and the wider area.
The Year 6 group have recently been learning about the environment and climate change, and a few pupils read out some of their written work on the topic. Mr Moore drew on his experience as a Member of Parliament and the Shadow Minister for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to discuss these issues with the group.
Mr Moore was also given a tour of the school by Year 6 teacher Mrs Binney and pupils on the school council. He paid tribute to their eagerness to get involved and help others by representing their fellow pupils.
Commenting on the visit, Robbie Moore MP said:
“It was an absolute pleasure to visit All Saints’ Primary School in Ilkley to speak with a group of Year 6 pupils and take some brilliant questions on a massive range of topics – including what life is like as an MP, how local and national democracy works, and our local priorities for Keighley, Ilkley and the wider area.
The Year 6 group have recently been learning about the environment and climate change. It was great to hear their thoughts and listen to some of their written work, as well as use my experience as a Member of Parliament and shadow Minister for Farming.
Great to also get a tour of the school with Year 6 teacher Mrs Binney and some pupils on the school council – their eagerness to get involved and help others by representing their fellow pupils is fantastic
A big thank you to Mrs Binney and the team for inviting me!"
“I also really enjoyed chatting with the school council during my tour of the school – their dedication is truly inspiring. It's always great to hear directly from our next generation – one of the best parts of the job, without doubt!
“A big thank you to Mrs Binney and the team for having me!”
