Rix House

Local MP Robbie Moore has condemned Bradford Council plans to close a care home for adults with learning disabilities.

Last week Bradford Council confirmed that Rix House, in Keighley, will shut by the end of October.

The council said it was "doing everything it can" to support residents and their families.

Robbie Moore MP said:

“Bradford Council’s lack of transparency throughout this process has been quite frankly appalling and does a huge disservice to residents, their families, and the hardworking and loving staff at Rix House, who provide vital support for adults with learning disabilities in Keighley and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Residents have called this place home for decades. To keep them in the dark about the future of Rix House is completely unacceptable, and I am particularly angry that despite requesting an urgent update back in May on behalf of residents at the home, the Council didn’t even have the decency to respond or to update me on their plans for Rix House.

The closure of this home raises significant concerns about the future well-being of residents and it is absolutely essential that there is a robust and comprehensive plan put in place to ensure their continued care and support."
