"At long last!” - Bus shelter to be built after Robbie Moore MP steps in

It won’t be long before residents of Cringles Residential Park in Silsden will no longer have to face the wet and windy weather unsheltered after the town’s MP intervened to secure a bus shelter for residents travelling at the site.

Passengers catching the bus opposite the Cringles junction have long complained about the lack a bus shelter for residents heading towards Ilkley and Addingham.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority, who have responsibility for the installations of bus shelters initially claimed that the pavement was “not wide enough to support the installation of a bus shelter”, and that “it will be too windy”.

But after efforts from Silsden’s MP Robbie Moore, who met with residents at Cringles last month, a request for the much-needed shelter has now been granted by the Local Authority.

Robbie Moore MP said:

“At long last, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority have finally listened to our calls to build a bus shelter for residents of Cringles heading to Ilkley and Addingham. You wouldn’t think something so simple would take so long. Residents have been calling for one for years and have unfortunately always been given excuses by the Combined Authority.”

After eventually receiving written confirmation from WYCA that a shelter will be built - I will be working to make sure WYCA deliver on their promise and build this shelter as quick as possible.

It just proves that  putting local priorities first can go a long way! No matter how big or small your issue, I will always be available to help local residents out.”
